this way, that way

We celebrate two Easters. I was born and raised catholic whereas hubby is Greek Orthodox. Things are pretty similar religion wise, same prayers, same beliefs, with a few variances, same holidays, except for Easter. The head of the respective churches use different calendars to determine when Easter will be. So, every 4 years it falls on the same week-end, otherwise they can be up to a month apart. This year they are a week apart which for a pair of 4.5 yrs old leads to a whole lot of questions which can be hard to answer. How does one minimize a huge theological set of beliefs into easy to understand words for a pre-schooler? So we've reached a compromise over the years. Catholic Easter is when the Easter Bunny comes, when we decorate eggs in multicolored tones and eat with my family. Then we follow Greek traditions for the Eastern Easter.

So happy Easter everyone, regardless of which one you follow or whichever way you choose to celebrate it.

I did not know this. Maybe we can talk about this when we meet for coffee. I loved to be a little more enlightened.

We have good friends who also celebrate both. We benefit since they aleays host a huge celebration for the Greek Easter, and we always have such a lovely time.

Hope you enjoyed #1, get ready for #2....

Oh, you're lucky Nancy, Greeks love a good party and Easter is a huge one at that, lots of food and gifts for the kids.

Off to buy discounted easter stuff for our Easter#2!
